As a collaboration with Latino choreographer Rosie Herrera, Prized Possessions is a design project commissioned for the contemporary dance performance “LatinXpressions” at the University of Michigan School of Music Theater and Dance. The performance navigates romance through a sweet yet quirky approach. Taking minimalistic silhouettes from every’s leisure wear and embedding Velcro pieces to the costumes’ torso, I strive to use the costumes to further challenge the relationship between physical and emotional distance performed by the dancers.

The shades of Earth tone and desaturated hues seen from the color palette are derivatives from the choreograph’s concept inspiration of heavenly believes. All fabric and Velcro materials are then hand-dyed to match the desired color palette and blend in with each other on stage.
